Bernie – A Love Poem

Bernie (A Love Poem)

Great strife accentuates great times and great men.
Little men cower
Behind lies and wrongs and hate.
In this time in America, the little men surge as the system guarantees the great's fall
And we will be judged.

If there are any left, yes, after corona, but more the result of our mother, the Earth, shucking off we as parasites, they will look upon now as a time things could have changed, and wonder why those established in the current system could never see it. Even before the virus, things was fucked. The workers getting hefted slimy greed in exchange for joy. But there was a promise behind the illness, a remaking of the American dream to something more approaching perfect, one where everyone got to participate. But all hope is gone. Some decided their wealth was paramount to the mass' glee.

And the worst thing about it is that pluralities agreed, and we're stuck with Biden.

Or little-man Trump. The Earth shakes more wildly. But she won't be saved by Biden either. Capitalism is the next disease, the one that could kill us all. You can't cure the sick with more a mega-dose of that which makes you ill.

But Bernie could have led towards things better. This would have been a slog, generations of leaders of his vain to provide utopia, but the start would have begun and the people could have hope. Things, in zeitgeist, would have awoken. Our hearts would know possibility. We could have gone somewhere, and never back.

I love you, Bernie Sanders, for what you have done. Social Democracy is the brave new world that we so desperately need. Before you, espousing the genius of those systems branded me a Communist. Now, universal health care exists on the lips of most every of us. College can be considered a right, not a path for the wealthy to be become more so. Even the ownership of industry by those to do the actual jobs in it became less-distant a dream.

Things changed today, horrifically. Bernie left the campaign. The stock market gained. Trump told more lies, now with a new mouthpiece as press secretary. People died from COVID. More got sick. The promise of a tomorrow better became dimmer. We stepped back.

There is still capability, though, that things improve from now on. It is only within us, joined together, that our essential potential can be discovered and a new, great world can be made manifest.

So move. six feet apart or from your home. But find a way.

 MOVE.
